One of my first shoe postings (a year ago October) was on boots, accompanied by the Nancy Sinatra song, “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” That was a little more prescient than I knew.
So in that spirit, here are some more boots for walking:

Okay, I know my child is way past the knock-knock jokes, but when I saw this shoe, that's just what I thought of!

Just when I realized I had no idea for any shoe posting (and I haven't done one in a while), just when I was bored with summer shoes (after a while, most sandals start looking alike), just when I had finished searching for English shoes to do something on Lambeth (but could find nothing particularly different or interesting), The Manolo comes through for me once again:

This time around, the trend has been expressed in luxurious and mostly subtle ways, with beautiful shoes that feature snakeskin and feathers in African patterns, and sandals with native American leather fringes.
Of course, as always, one must be careful when adopting ethnic motifs for use in personal styling. The danger is that you may go too far and become the caricature.
Indeed, one minute you are admiring the leathery fringes on the high street shoe, and the next you are dressing head-to-toe in buckskin and trade beads, and calling yourself Kicking Horse Woman.
However, for the hot semi-ethnic sandals, the Manolo has been especially impressed this year by the Sigerson Morrison, who have produced the stunning series of shoes, flats and heels, with the woven black-and-white pattern.

I think I just need a pick-me-up after reading the accounts of this weekend's visit to San Diego by the presiding bishop.
So, just for me, some pretty shoes!

These are for BabyBlue and all others in Virginia who have worked and prayed so hard in the on-going battle with the Episcopal Church.
Yes, today's ruling by Judge Bellows is not the end of the litigation (that's why these boots have a steel shin plate in case the fighting continues), but remember to take the time to savor the victories when they happen. (And besides, can't you see some Harry Potter character wearing these? Not sure who it would be, but these boots definitely look Hogwartian, if that's the right word.)
Okay, we are (finally) landscaping our backyard, which is now (yes, this very minute!) in a state of total mayhem and chaos, as well as a mud pit; the machinery noise is constant, I have to walk the dog every hour or so, so he can do his "business" since the yard is uninhabitable, and my brain is mush (I am a person that needs quiet, lots and lots of QUIET).
So since I cannot think of anything today, much less anything on shoes, I give thanks to Micah Snell, a Nashotah House senior, whose posting on shoes was brought to my attention by David Turney. From Micah's blog, Unbridled Warhorse:
I prefer not to wear shoes. This is realistic less often than I like. Consequently when my feet must be oppressed I prefer their comfort, which results in the paradox that someone who dislikes shoes probably spends more on them.
Merrells have been good to my feet in years past. I just found the Merrell Karma, which is about ideal for regular semi-dress use.
The irony is equally appealing. Here is a pig skin shoe named Karma. Not only did the pig warrant death, he warrants being tread underfoot in death. Or, what if you are reincarnate from the pig whose skin became the shoes you now wear? Wouldn't that be ironic? Stomping your ancestor must merit returning as something else terrible.
Bottom line: Don't get these shoes or don't believe in reincarnation. And pass the bacon.
You know, with all of the legal maneuvering going on the The Episcopal Church, from Virginia to California and spots in-between (including church trials - Bishops Schofield, Cox, and MacBurney, anyone?), I thought this might be a good day to take a look at proper footwear for the courtroom.
The only problem is that most bishops are men and most attorneys seem to be as well. And frankly, men’s shoes are just not as interesting.
But, we do have the problem solved here in southern California. A shout-out to Lynn Moyer, attorney for All Saints and St. David's in Los Angeles - these shoes are for you!
